MEDELIA
BRIDGING CULTURES THROUGH PLAY
Video games are a powerful way to share culture in a language children speak fluently: play.
For the Arab World Institute’s digital strategy, I coordinated the development of Medelia, an educational game inviting children to explore the cultural richness of the medieval Mediterranean.
Across 6 historic cities (Venice, Constantinople, Damascus, Cordoba, Kairouan, and Cairo) players discover illustrated scenes, mini-games, and puzzles.
As Digital Project Coordinator, I ensured the game stayed historically grounded, inclusive, and engaging, drawing on my Art History expertise and Lebanese heritage.
I led research on architecture, literature, daily life, and technologies, guiding the creation of authentic cities and characters, and coordinated historians, archaeologists, and cultural experts to validate every detail.
By bridging history and storytelling, I helped turn complex heritage into playful, meaningful experiences for young audiences.
